Heather Turner

Practice Leader, Project Development: Principal Shareholder - EUA

Q: What unique qualities do you believe sets you apart as a leader and woman of influence?
A: I believe a combination of joy in my soul, curiosity in my head, passion in my heart and a bottomless tank of resilience is a perfect recipe for creativity, innovation and inspiration. This is what sets me apart as leader and woman of influence.

Q: Can you share a pivotal moment in your career that shaped your path?
A: I had title chased at one point, pivoted, then settled for a role after. In those two transitions, I ultimately ignored my gut feelings and didn’t challenge myself on what aspects of a career could truly bring me joy. When I challenged myself with that simple question; what truly brings me joy; I found fulfillment in a position that I have been able to evolve, advance and find everyday excitement in today!

Q: How do you define leadership, and how do you embody those qualities in your own life?
A: Leadership is not title or rank in my opinion, it is authentic character and consistency in behavior; sometimes overtly recognizable and other times behind the scenes. Leadership is service above one’s self. I embody leadership qualities as a mom, a friend, a community leader and a fellow colleague. My greatest qualities are listening, taking time to ‘see’ others, and having a healthy dose of humor and jazz hands to share with others. I give unconditional love and support to help others succeed or be the best version of themselves.

Q: How do you pay it forward and support the next generation of leaders?
A: I pay it forward to the next generation of leaders through mentorship by making time, listening and taking a genuine interest in helping them uncover opportunities in their path. I volunteer time, talent and treasure to organizations/efforts to help younger generations see a pathway to my particular industry. I’ve also helped co-create initiatives and lead initiatives to help younger professionals connect and learn beyond their immediate industry; thereby helping them gain leadership opportunities and stronger networks in their communities.
